Legacy Gifts

Arts and Letters upholds a century-old tradition of mutual support and recognition among artists across disciplines. Generous bequests from members and donors sustain Arts and Letters operations, awards, and programs to this day.

We invite you to join our community of legacy donors. By endowing Arts and Letters’s public purpose, your legacy sustains a historic and vibrant institution, and will ensure the future of artistic programs across disciplines that engage new generations of artists and audiences.

Please reach out to development@artsandletters.org with any questions about leaving a lasting impact at Arts and Letters.

Bequests and other ways to plan your legacy support

A bequest is one way to plan future support. You might include the phrase “I give to the American Academy of Arts and Letters, at 633 West 155th Street, NYC, [identify sum, percentage/remainder, asset] for its general purposes OR [for a specific purpose].”

Arts and Letters accept gifts of cash and cash equivalents, intellectual property, and tangible personal property; we may also accept retirement plan assets, charitable remainder trusts, life insurance policies, and donor-advised fund assets.

Arts and Letters welcomes inquiries, and invites you to consult with us in the event you wish to designate a restricted purpose. We look forward to working with you to meet your goals.

Please contact development@artsandletters.org to find out more about leaving a legacy with lasting impact at Arts and Letters.

The American Academy of Arts and Letters is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, with federal I.D. 13-0429640. The above information is not intended as legal or financial advice; we recommend consulting with independent legal, financial, and/or tax advisors regarding gift and estate planning.

Member Billie Tsien has included Arts and Letters in her estate plans. She says “My bequest will help ensure that the Academy can keep supporting the arts in the future. Now more than ever – we need to step forward.”
