INVITATIONAL EXHIBITION OF VISUAL ARTS AT THE
AMERICAN ACADEMY OF ARTS AND LETTERS
MARCH 10 - APRIL 10, 2005
February 4, 2005 -- Work by thirty-two contemporary artists will be on view at the American Academy of Arts and Letters galleries on historic Audubon Terrace (Broadway between 155 and 156 Streets) from Thursday, March 10, through Sunday, April 10, 2005. The gallery will be closed on March 27, Easter Sunday. The exhibition will feature the art of 20 painters, one photographer, and 11 sculptors. Site-specific installations by six of these artists will be created especially for the show. The finalists were chosen from a pool of more than 150 contemporary artists nominated by the members of the Academy, one of America's most prestigious societies of architects, artists, writers, and composers. Work on view at the Academy will be eligible for $200,000 in cash prizes and purchases.
